Thanks for Nothing James Cameron...

This Labor Day weekend has carried with it plenty of time for "coffee and contemplation" (IYKYK), as I work on my next project, with assistance from my trusty A.I. Desktop app.

As I was developing the back end functionality of a system that I'm building, I couldn't help but feel like I was betraying a childhood lesson.

If you grew up in the 80s and early 90s, chances are you were raised with an inherent distrust of Artificial Intelligence.

To this day, I shudder at the thought of Skynet going live, even though August 29, 1997, at 2:14 a.m. E.T. has long since passed.

When ChatGPT first launched in late 2022 / early 2023, I stuck to my guns, fighting the good fight against the machines.

Unfortunately, I noticed colleagues were starting to pass me up, with creative solutions they were fast tracking, by using AI.

Curiosity started to creep in and resistance had become futile... I decided to take the plunge in late 2024, when ChatGPT launched their desktop app.

Since then, I've leveraged multiple A.I. platforms to achieve technical solutions, that I would have had to previously work with an entire tech team to develop.

Now, I was able to understand the Tech CEO perspective of a "Jobs Apocalypse". Through the eyes of an Engineer, LLMs that could manage large tech projects at scale, would cause a Judgement Day in the Tech space.

After months have passed by, these same CEOs are realizing the reality of what the "human element" of society brings, and have started walking back their comments.

Yes, A.I. can crunch data and output reports quickly, if it is fed the right data and prompted correctly.

The human being knows the data and has situational context, even if it takes a bit longer.

This is the reality because, at the end of the day, the employees are the subject matter experts (SMEs).

With this in mind, the next step of employee evolution is the adoption of the technology as a SME.

For the first time, I realized that this app was allowing me to truly tap into my creative side.

When you develop your skills as an SME, you learn the processes and systems of your organization, inside out.

This tends to bring with it a strong sense of technical knowledge. In step LLMs...

As an SME, you are faced with a cornucopia of obstacles across teams and departments.

With knowledge and understanding, your hypotheses can be built and proven in a controlled environment.

Data (WITHOUT PII) can be analyzed and put into the context an SME can offer, to provide the C-Levels talking points and resolutions.

In a Sales capacity, all of the time sucks can be eliminated, automating processes that take away from time to build stronger relationships.

The common denominator in these examples is the "human element", leveraging a next level tool.

As the symbiosis between employee and LLMs takes hold, people will be able to do their jobs better and faster.

However, if you're in any doubt about what a human being brings to the table, I encourage you to use Facebook's new A.I. Advertising Assistant.
